What affects the project

  • Current condition of the basement (unfinished, partially finished, or a redo)
  • Square footage and the number of rooms you want framed in
  • Ceiling height and how ductwork, pipes, and joists run
  • Moisture and drainage — any water history has to be solved first
  • Whether you need a legal bedroom (requires egress) or a bathroom
  • Finish level — flooring, trim, lighting, and built-in details

Basement Finishing FAQs

Do you check for moisture before finishing a basement?

Yes. We walk the walls and floor for water stains, efflorescence, and any sign of seepage before any framing goes up. If there is a moisture issue, it has to be solved first — drywall over a wet wall is a problem waiting to happen.

Can you add a bedroom or bathroom in the basement?

We can frame in a bedroom, bathroom, wet bar, or media niche. A legal bedroom downstairs needs an egress window, which is a detail we plan for early so it is not expensive to add later.

How long does a basement finish take?

Every project is different, so we give you a schedule in the written quote based on the size and scope of your basement.

Do you handle permits for basement finishing?

Permit requirements vary by township. We will tell you what applies at your address as part of the estimate. We plan the work to meet local code for ceiling height, egress, and electrical.
